Ukrainian Statehood Day serves as a reminder that Ukraine has deep historical roots, its own culture, traditions, and a thousand-year history of statehood.
From the days of Kyivan Rus’ to the present, Ukrainians have proven time and again that the pursuit of freedom, independence, and the right to determine our own future is an integral part of our national identity.
Ukrainian statehood was never something that was simply handed to us. Over the centuries, we have had to defend it — in battle, through diplomacy, in culture, science, and sports. Today, the whole world is talking about Ukraine, and not just because of the courage of our defenders. Every victory by a Ukrainian athlete, every song performed on the “Eurovision” stage, every book translated into other languages, every invention, scientific discovery, or work of art also strengthens Ukrainian statehood. After all, they tell the world about us — our culture, talent, resilience, and the right to be ourselves.
Ukrainian Statehood Day is also a day of gratitude to all generations of Ukrainians who have preserved our language, culture, and the right to call Ukraine our home. It is an opportunity to remember that the future of the state depends on each of us: on our daily decisions, our respect for one another, our love for our homeland, and our willingness to work for its development. For a strong state begins with people who believe in it and contribute to its future every day.
