Ukraine’s 35 years of independence represent 35 years of our history, filled with dreams and disappointments, victories and losses, struggles, mistakes, and momentous decisions.
History reminds us how precious independence is, but it also teaches us not to dwell solely on the past. We can remember, draw conclusions, and preserve the experience of generations — while at the same time living in the here and now. Because it is today that we are shaping the Ukraine that tomorrow will be spoken of as our history.
At “Space for Positive Change,” we especially believe in the power of the human spirit — in our ability to recover, support others, and find inner strength even when there is so much pain and uncertainty around us. Mental health and psychological resilience are also part of our independence. It’s the ability to pause and savor the moment, to notice the people around us, to allow ourselves to rejoice, laugh, dream, work, and embrace our loved ones. Living in the present doesn’t mean forgetting the past. It means not letting the past rob us of today and the hope of tomorrow.
So today, we wish all Ukrainians not only Victory and Peace, but also the wisdom to learn from history’s lessons and avoid repeating its mistakes, to remember those who fought for our freedom, and at the same time to build our own lives here and now.
Happy Holiday!
