March 21: The Day of People with Down Syndrome, on this day the “Socks Up!” campaign is held all over the world.
The “Shkarpetulki” partner project supported the idea of drawing attention to the problem of stereotypical thinking. Therefore, on this day, we united to motivate positive changes and create positive dolls from socks as a symbol of reminder that we are all different, but children with genetic changes are also children! They also like to play, socialize and enjoy the sun.
The emotional effect of the meeting is a way to express your support and solidarity with people with special needs. This can be an important emotional experience that increases self-confidence and their role in society.
The participants of the event went to the playground and presented their unique handmade crafts to the children who were playing there.
The event was supported by AMICA e.V. (Freiburg).
This is the second part of a series of events held in Nikopol. The previous one was aimed at supporting children with cancer who are forced to wear hats after remission. Participants created dolls with caps and sent them to the City Clinical Children’s Hospital 16 of the Kharkiv City Council in Kharkiv.
