In the civic sector, success rarely comes from a single person. It emerges where there is a willingness to listen, trust, and act together. This is exactly what happened when representatives of civil society organizations, charitable associations, foundations, and initiative groups, along with facilitators Olena Syvakova, Tetiana Mala, and Viktoria Assanova, came together to discuss what matters most: how to pool resources to provide real help to the community.
As part of the project “Dialogues in Communities. Facilitating Social Cohesion,” an event was held that served as a space for open dialogue, the exchange of experiences, and the search for shared solutions. Different approaches, areas of work, and stories came together here, but everyone was united by a shared vision: effective collaboration begins with partnership, and partnership begins with trust and shared values.
During the workshop, participants explored tools and mechanisms for collaboration that allow them to avoid duplicating efforts and instead reinforce one another. It became clear that resources are not just financial funds, but also knowledge, contacts, experience, human presence, and a willingness to take responsibility. It is the combination of these elements that makes it possible to provide high-quality, timely, and targeted assistance in communities.
Pooling resources became possible thanks to simple yet effective steps: open communication, aligning community needs, a clear division of roles, and joint action planning. Through dialogue, new partnerships emerged, along with ideas for joint projects and the realization that together, we can achieve much more than any single organization could on its own.
This event served as an example of how the civic sector can be a force for change — vibrant, flexible, and united. “Dialogues in Communities. Facilitating Social Cohesion” not only provided answers to questions about effective collaboration but also demonstrated that when there is space for meeting, mutual support, and joint action, success becomes shared, and assistance truly makes a difference for the community.
The event is part of the “Workshop for Positive Change: We Talk, We Act, We Influence” project, implemented by the NGO “Space for Positive Change” with support from the Government of Canada as part of the “Women. Peace. Security: From Local to Global” project, implemented by the Ukrainian Women’s Fund
